I'm not sure how much of the lack of quality is due to the original work or the translation.The language and flow is dry. Either the original work is as smooth as sandpaper or the translator is not an author/pro and wasn't able to transfer the quality over to English (word for word translation and correcting the sentence structure is not pro translation). I suspect a little bit of both.The author tells a lot in place of showing us what happens. Information is shared before it is relevant and repeated when it matters. (Example: "The voice came from someone we will later learn is the -operator-") structure is weird, information sharing is weird.Simply put, not up to par.
